The fit and finish are superb. The table is very heavy and solid. A special gear system allows leaves to be added without moving the pedestals: the two halves of the top move along tracks to enlarge or make smaller the table. This saves wear and tear on the table itself as well as rugs. It is necessary to have two people to adjust the top and add or remove leaves.I didn't buy the accompanying chairs because the photos showed the fabric pattern crooked and not centered: I never was able to determine if this was typical of these chairs or just an anomoly. So I am using[...]Napoleon chair in the brown finish which matches the table's finish perfectly.

The table is very heavy and SOLID. Details and trim are well executed. Finish is clear and uniform. Mechanism to add leaves works flawlessly and uses a system of gears so that just the top moves - the pedestals remain fixed reducing stress and wear and tear on them. Finally I live in an historic house and the (new) table blends in perfectly with my many antiques and handmade pieces.
Overall I am very happy with the purchase!
