It's exactly what I thought it would be. I have an older version of this stool type of chair (which is a little heavier and a little sturdier), but I still think this chair is great. My 22 month old loves using it (only under adult supervision).
Just what i wanted for high shelves in my kitchen........[...]...
a little time to put together
My grandmother purchased a cosco stool years ago when my cousins and I were all growing up. It had steps and a padded seat for us to more easily reach the table. Now that her first great-grandchild has arrived she wanted a new cosco stool. It was not easy to find, but Im glad I did! The stool looks great, feels great and is the same cosco quality she remembered.
Red stool in kitchen to reach high-up items, and sitting for tasks like peeling apples. Black stool in utility room for sewing and ironing tasks, as well as reaching high-up stored items. It is similar to one a favorite auntie had for many years in her kitchen. I couldn't locate it in stores,[...]. Love it!!!

I bought this for my son to use instead of putting a booster on the chair, but this is not even usable every time you move the chair the steps fall off the track and get stuck. I would return this if the box hadn't gotten taken to the dump so guess this is where this will end up.
DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY (use it for gas instead)
I needed an extra chair for rare use in my utility room AND a step stool - this works for that. Just wish it had been as well made as my Mother's.
This stool looks like the one my grandma had in her kitchen when I was a child, it was always handy. This version 30 years later is much less sturdy and has a step stool that slides out less than smoothly. The steps are also a little shallow for using them to get into those tall cupboards. The look is great and if I weren't expecting something more heavy duty, I would love this chair. As is, I like the chair and it is a help in the kitchen- and makes it look snazzy.
I was a bit upset that the step stool did not have a clip or latch or some type of component that would hold it into place so it would not slide back under the chair. I purchased for my small child to be able to get up herself and the stool slides as she tries to step on it.
Works well for toddler to be able climb up and down. Wish it was about an inch shorter so would fit under table.
The steps are great for the children in my classes who are all different sizes and yet need to be of a correct height to have a good hand postion.
