  • Available with a white polyethylene concrete-filled shell.
  • Note: This umbrella base should never be used in a free-standing application. It must only be used in conjunction with a dining table. Secure umbrella through the center of table and fasten in base with set screw.

About Tropitone and Umbrella Bases

The base style you choose is purely personal. However, the umbrella size, shape, environment, and wind conditions must be factored into your selection. Use the 6100 series base or the in-table steel plate models for in-table use. For free-standing umbrellas, specify a free-standing steel plate base. Steel plate and cement filled aluminum bases are available in all of Tropitone's powder coat colors to allow complete coordination with your dining set.

Tropitone's history started back in 1954 when Mr. Bert M. Baker, Sr., a retired engineer from the Grand Rapids Chair Co. and former engineer for Lockheed Aircraft, moved to Sarasota, Florida. Mr. Baker, an energetic and creative individual, soon became bored with retirement and bought a small, local company known as the Sarasota Redwood Furniture Co., a manufacturer of fine redwood outdoor furniture.

Drawing upon his experience in both the furniture and aircraft industries and his knowledge of aluminum, Mr. Baker soon switched from redwood to welded aluminum for his furniture construction. From this small, inauspicious beginning, Tropitone was born.

Mr. Baker's goal since Tropitone's inception was to provide quality casual furniture built with a commitment to comfort, style and value. Throughout his years with Tropitone, Mr. Baker pioneered many design and manufacturing innovations; innovations which the Casual Industry as a whole has adopted and which are now considered "standard features" on all fine casual furniture.

Tropitone Limited Warranty

When used in a residential setting, Tropitone warrantees its frames for 15 years. The warranty is valid from the date of purchase by the original purchaser. When used in a commercial setting, Tropitone warrantees its frames for 5 years from the date of purchase. Commercial use is defined as use in a public area. Proof of purchase is required. If your Tropitone frame fails structurally during normal usage, or if the finish peels, cracks, or blisters within fifteen years (5 years for commercial use), Tropitone will repair, refinish, or replace the frame (with same or similar product if discontinued) at no charge. Parts and labor are included for the first 3 years (1st year for commercial use.). Additionally the following 5, 3, and 1 year warranties apply:

  • For 5 years: Tropitone warrantees its vinyl straps for 5 years from the date of purchase. This applies only to breakage, not color changes. In the unlikely event that a strap breaks or pulls loose, Tropitone will provide a replacement strap at no charge (labor not included.)
  • For 3 years: Tropitone warrantees its vinyl straps against discoloration for three years from the date of purchase. In the unlikely event that a strap is grossly discolored, Tropitone will supply a replacement strap at no charge. (Labor not included.) Strap replacement due to discoloration is at the vinyl supplier’s discretion. Solid surface table tops used in residential areas are warranted against manufacturer’s defect for three years. Tropitone will pay residential freight costs for the first 3 years in the continental. U.S. If the Stoneworks or solid surface top fails structurally during normal usage or if the finish peels, cracks or blisters within 3 years from the date of purchase, Tropitone will replace, refinish, or replace the top. Woven seat buckets used in residential areas are warranted against manufacturer’s defect for 3 years (1 year for commercial use.)
  • For 1 year: Tropitone warrantees against fabrics on their cushions, umbrellas, and slings for one year against tearing, discoloration or fading. Additionally, Tropitone will warrantee the following for 1 year: Woven seat buckets used commercially against manufacturer’s defects, finish on coiled steal spring rocker mechanism, cushion fills, acrylic table tops against bowing and warping, teak components, glides, hardware, wheels, connecters, table rims, metal umbrellas, and umbrella bases. Under Mr. Baker's leadership, TROPITONE pioneered the use of acrylic tabletops; wide aluminum extrusions for arm comfort; and quick-drying, weather-resistant outdoor cushions. In addition, TROPITONE was the first casual furniture manufacturer to use powder coating in the finishing of our frames back in 1969. This was about 10 years before anyone else in the industry.

A family company from the start, Mr. Baker eventually passed on the leadership of TROPITONE to his son, James Baker, who continued the TROPITONE tradition of design and styling leadership.

Over the years, TROPITONE has won numerous design awards and honors from the design community for our bold and visionary furniture collections. Names like Pagoda, Boccaccio, Cantina, Brasilia, Hollywood, and Perception are just a few that come to mind when one thinks of trendsetting TROPITONE styles. More on Tropitone...

Truck Freight Additional Information:
This product is too heavy/large to ship via the small package delivery services (e.g. UPS, FedEx) so it will be sent to you via truck freight. Truck freight is different than standard UPS, FedEx or US Mail in that you will be responsible for carrying the product from the back of the truck into your house (or wherever it's going).

The most important thing to remember about truck freight is that you MUST inspect the package at the time of delivery. If the box has any damage, or if there is any reason for you to be at all concerned about damage, please write "PRODUCT DAMAGED" clearly on the sheet that they ask you to sign. This simply insures that if there is any damage, it will be easy to take care of the problem.

If you are ordering a very large item, please keep in mind that you may need a couple of people to help unload it. Alternatively, most truck freight companies offer additional services to help you move items from the truck into your house. Once we email you the tracking information you can contact the shipper directly to inquire about additional services. You would be responsible for directly paying the truck freight carrier for any additional services.
