International Concepts was founded in 1979 in Greensboro, NC as an unfinished furniture wholesaler, providing furniture to retail stores throughout the Eastern United States. Initially International Concepts only purchased and resold furniture products, however, it soon became obvious that profits and sales could be increased by assembling some of the products at their own facilities.
In 1985, International Concepts moved to a 9,000 sq. foot facility in Jamestown, NC while continuing to wholesale unfinished furniture. In 1987 the company started importing chair components and assembling them to sell to unfinished furniture stores. That same year International Concepts moved from Jamestown to High Point, NC and leased a 24,000 sq. foot facility.
In 1990, the owners of International Concepts purchased a building in Thomasville, NC and the company moved again. The new building more than tripled available warehouse space. Finished furniture was added to the International Concepts lineup. In mid 1994, International Concepts purchased another large facility in Thomasville which brought total manufacturing, office and warehouse space to well in excess of 200,000 sq. feet.
By 1996, the finished furniture line became large enough to create it's own name, "John Thomas Furniture", and the growing volume of customers required that a new manufacturing facility be created. In 2000, International Concepts has almost 400,000 square feet of manufacturing and warehouse space in North Carolina and Arkansas. Today, International Concepts offers a large selection of products such as dining tables, dining chairs, dining sets, counter stools, bar stools, china cabinets and much more! We use the stools everyday at the kitchen island and because of the size and style they slide under when not in use.

It's a good stool for the price. Honestly, looked around for about a year; was looking for the same design, but about 8 inches shorter, but couldn't find that size. This works. We bought three of them. They look cute in our outdated kitchen. [...] Even got the thumbs up from our good friends. Our 5 year old son uses them to climb up to the cabinets (which makes my heart race), but I have no worries that the stool is going to collapse under him. They're not the most comfortable things in the world, but all around, they work.

We bought eight stools for our kitchen islands. Both, distressed walnut and black. The stools are very attractive and comfortable. They come fully assembled. I shopped around and these seemed the best buy for the money. However the foot bars on 4 out of the 8 stools have broken off. We've put them back together with wood glue. Nevertheless, I would still recommend them.

These barstools are even better than I hoped they would be! They are very solid and sturdy - excellent construction. They are also stylish and comfortable. They've been great for my young kids, who have no trouble climbing on and off of them. I would definitely recommend them!

I am pleased overall with these stools. They appear to be well made and sturdy and I couldn't find a comparable stool for this price elsewhere. I did end up using them for another purpose other than what I originally planned. The color ended up not being suitable and I decided they were too casual looking as well. But I am enjoying them in another area & am happy I kept them.

They are slightly lower than the standard 26" counterheight stool making the climb easier for my young children. The dark finish has chipped slightly around the leg edges in the first month, but they have "distressed" well. I'd recommend for young child use.
