International Concepts was founded in 1979 in Greensboro, NC as an unfinished furniture wholesaler, providing furniture to retail stores throughout the Eastern United States. Initially International Concepts only purchased and resold furniture products, however, it soon became obvious that profits and sales could be increased by assembling some of the products at their own facilities.
In 1985, International Concepts moved to a 9,000 sq. foot facility in Jamestown, NC while continuing to wholesale unfinished furniture. In 1987 the company started importing chair components and assembling them to sell to unfinished furniture stores. That same year International Concepts moved from Jamestown to High Point, NC and leased a 24,000 sq. foot facility.
In 1990, the owners of International Concepts purchased a building in Thomasville, NC and the company moved again. The new building more than tripled available warehouse space. Finished furniture was added to the International Concepts lineup. In mid 1994, International Concepts purchased another large facility in Thomasville which brought total manufacturing, office and warehouse space to well in excess of 200,000 sq. feet.
By 1996, the finished furniture line became large enough to create it's own name, "John Thomas Furniture", and the growing volume of customers required that a new manufacturing facility be created. In 2000, International Concepts has almost 400,000 square feet of manufacturing and warehouse space in North Carolina and Arkansas. I searched everywhere for a kitchen island stool that would go well with my primitive country decorated kitchen. I have a distressed black kitchen island and these stools match it perfectly! I was afraid they might not look nice, but I am pleased to say they go great with my decor! I bought three of them! They were a great price for the product!

The black color is more of a satin finish which I wasn't expecting, but it's a nice product.

It doesn't get any easier! [...]they were ready to go right out of the box! The barstools are a great distressed black color, easily fit in with my decor. With a narrow depth, when pushed under the counter, they don't stick out at all into the walking area next to the counter. But don't worry - they are plenty wide enough and well designed for very comfortable seating. Also love the foot rest. Overall, a great buy!

I got these for a kitchen bar - they work great and seem solid - and I didn't even have to put them together! Just removed from the box and slid underneath our kitchen counter.

These barstools are so attractive and fit perfectly with the decor of the kitchen/dining area. They are comfortable to sit on and easy for the children to access. They fit under the edge of the bar without interfering with the traffic flow between the bar and the dining table. I would recommend them to anyone looking for beautiful, functional, sturdy barstools.
