In recent years bar furniture has evolved from simply casual and retro designs to a variety of decorative and innovative styles seen today in restaurants, bars and residential settings. Purchasing bar stools is a great opportunity to display your personal style and create a warm and welcoming environment for family and guests. Before choosing a style however, it is important to determine what size bar stool will fit your needs best. Typically, counter height seats are 24-26" high, while bar height seats are 30-32" high. Traditional Bar Stools – The traditional style consists of curved lines, hand-painted and hand-carved details. Often constructed of wood, although many traditional metal designs do exist, these barstools typically come in darker wood finishes.

Contemporary & Modern Bar Stools – Often viewed interchangeably, contemporary and modern bar stool styles do differ from each other. The contemporary style features straight lines, clean edges and a little curvature. Carvings and other decorative touches are minimal. Modern styles also feature clean lines but may incorporate smooth accents (i.e. glass and stainless steel) as well. Typically made of metal, this style may seem like a futuristic version of the retro design.

Casual Bar Stools - This is a great look if you seek simplicity. Casual bar stools consist of clean, simple designs that may incorporate country-inspired decorations and Windsor backs.

Novelty Bar Stools - These bar stools are decorated with anything that is whimsical and fun including nautical themes, martini glasses and more. They are ideal for creating a themed atmosphere and pair well with both plain and decorative pub tables.

Retro Bar Stools – The Retro style is reminiscent of the soda shoppes of the 1950’s, 60’s and 70’s. This look typically includes a chrome frame and bright colors.

Rustic Bar Stools – Rustic styled bar stools look like they belong in a log cabin or ranch setting. They are usually made of light, unfinished or lightly distressed wood and are mostly devoid of even simple design elements.

Tropical Bar Stools - Typically constructed of wicker, rattan, or bamboo, tropical styled barstools are often fashioned for both indoor and outdoor/patio use.
